JTAA’s
4th Annual Summer Golf Program – 2005
Welcome
Golf Fans! Our Summer 2005 registration is scheduled to begin April
1st, 2005.
All registration will be conducted online. Once you have reviewed
the various levels and sessions, you may register by clicking on
the Register Now icon below to proceed with registration. Juniors
may enter one, two or all three sessions (pending availability).
(Based on a junior’s progress level, it is possible that
a junior that plays in Level I first may transition to the next
Level in the next session. Registration fees will be charged per
session.)
There are three levels of golf instruction provided and placement
depends on ability and experience only, not age. All levels are
open to boys and girls. Juniors must turn six by June 1st, 2005
and be age 17 or younger.
Summer 2005’s Three 3 Week Sessions:
| |
1. |
The first session will be June 2 through June
23. |
| |
2. |
The second session will be June 24 through
July 14. |
| |
3. |
The third session will be July 15 through
August 6. |
Please note: he first session will offer two levels of instruction,
Levels I and II. The second and third sessions will offer three
levels of instruction, Levels I, II and III.
How to Pick a Level for your Junior:
We ask parents to pick a Level for their junior. HOWEVER, final placement
is at the discretion of the Board. The JTAA Golf Committee reserves
the right to make all placement decisions. In addition, as there
are two “flights” in Level III, the Committee will require
a playing test or evaluation procedure for those that did not participate
in Level III and/or pass a test last year.
Here is information about the three levels of golf instruction offered.
Level Descriptions
| |
Level I:
- This is for beginning golfers and is designed
to teach juniors the basics of golf. (Juniors in this level
ranged in age last year from 6 to 10.)
- We play Snag Golf in this level, using oversized
equipment and targets.
- Snag Golf is a fun way to learn golf and juniors
are exposed to the basics of golf.
- All Level I classes are taught at Jupiter Christian
School’s athletic fields. Practices are Tuesday evening
from 6:30 – 7:30 and Saturday mornings from 9 to
10 a.m.
- Level I golf will be offered during each of the
three sessions.
Level II:
- This is for golfers who have either progressed through
Level I and/or juniors who have some experience playing
golf.
- Level II players are not ready to play golf on a golf
course, but are ready for more intense instruction on game
basics. Again, these juniors are not course ready.
The aim of this Level is to prepare them to be course
ready over time.
- Depending on the group (session by session), the instructors
may decide to take the kids out on the golf course following
instruction.
- Level II classes will be taught at various local public
and private golf clubs; specific schedule and locations
will be posted on this website prior to the first session.
- Level II golf will be offered during each of the three
sessions.
Level III:
- This is for golfers who have either progressed through
Levels I and II and/or are course ready.
- There are two groups of Level III play: A and B.
- Level III B players are juniors whose games need some
additional instruction and time on the range, putting green,
chipping areas.
- The emphasis in Level III A is more on playing versus
instruction. These players are juniors whose games are
more polished and are ready to play more golf on the course,
versus the practice areas. To play in Level III A a
rules test is required and will be offered by the JTAA
Golf Committee at the beginning of each session.
- ALL LEVEL III players will receive instruction and the
amount of time on the practice areas and the golf courses
is totally at the discretion of the instructors and the
JTAA Golf Committee.
|
Dress Code:
All players will receive golf shirts at the beginning of each session.
(Different colors will be assigned to each Level.) These shirts are
required attire for participation. In addition, suitable shorts are
also expected (proper length, no jean shorts, etc.). Some of the
courses we have secured for instruction and play maintain strict
dress code and etiquette standards and it is important that all juniors
honor and respect these rules.
Golf shoes are not required, but are certainly okay for those juniors
that have them. Otherwise, sneakers and white socks are required.
In addition to the golf shirts, each player will receive a JTAA Golf
hat, which we recommend the juniors wear to protect them from the
sun.
Golf Rules and Etiquette:
The JTAA Golf Committee will review golf course rules and
etiquette standards at the beginning of each session. In addition,
the Committee will distribute rules books to juniors as part of
the instruction. Golf swing guides will also be provided to juniors
in Levels II and III.
Practice and Facility Schedule:
Specific days and times for each session are in the process of being
formulated. Please refer to the opening paragraph of this document for the
dates of the three summer sessions of golf. Details will be provided as they
become available.
Please note, we are working with Jupiter Dunes to offer discounted rates to
juniors who wish to play there and who are registered in the 2005 JTAA Golf
Program. Your instructors will provide you with more information once sessions
begin.
PAYS:
One parent/guardian of every child who registers to play
in a JTAA sport in 2005 will be required to watch the PAYS Program
Video and pay a $5 fee. Return to this site’s main home page
for more information about PAYS compliance.
Notes
to Parents:
| |
If your junior
is young and needs supervision, please plan accordingly. Instructors
are all golf professionals and we would prefer that they focus
on teaching. |
| |
Please plan to arrive 15 to
20 minutes prior to each lesson. This is very important! |
| |
Each junior will receive a
free golf shirt and golf hat. (Shirts will be different colors,
depending on Level.) |
| |
Rule books, instruction booklets
and certificates of completion (of Levels), will be provided/handed
out. |
| |
Water/Beverages are the responsibility
of juniors. Please plan accordingly. |
| |
Golf equipment is provided
at all levels, if needed. However, if a junior owns golf clubs,
he or she may use them. Also, we strongly recommend that you
rely on the golf professional’s advice on what size golf
clubs to purchase for your child, if you plan to do so. The
golf professional may also let you know which clubs to buy
(versus all of them.) |
| |
The JTAA Golf Committee is
planning to secure one golf professional per foursome on the
golf course. We cannot send juniors out on the golf course
without adults present. It may be necessary to ask parent volunteers
to accompany foursomes out on the golf course. Level III instructors
may ask you to commit to one or several “rounds” with
the juniors during the three week session, as you are able. |
Sponsorships:
If you would like to become a sponsor, this will entitle you to have your
name or company name on the golf shirts. Please indicate your interest by clicking
yes on the sponsorship link during the registration process. Sponsorships are
$150.00. We would like to thank the sponsors listed below.

so that we may welcome there in the future.
Instructors:
All instructions will be given by LPGA or PGA professionals.
If you
are an LPGA or PGA Golf Professional, and if you are interested in
teaching, please contact Judy Dickinson, LPGA Professional, at 746-0239
to inquire.
The JTAA Golf Committee is also searching for a 2005 season instructor
coordinator. If you are an LPGA or PGA golf professional and if
you are interested in this position, please contact any of the
committee members (see last page for contact information.)
End of Season Celebration:
There are preliminary plans to host an end of the season celebration,
which will include a parent/special friend and junior (player) scramble.
Instructors and the JTAA Golf Committee will notify parents via the
website and at sessions of plans. If there is a parent of a JTAA
junior who would like to volunteer and help with this event, please
contact a member of the JTAA Golf Committee (see list posted on this
website).
Rain Dates
We will do our best to reschedule rain-out days, but we are reliant
on local clubs to provide facilities and there will be occasions
when we will not be able to make up lost days.
Registration:
This year registration is 100% online with payment of fees being
made at time of registration via Visa or MasterCard. Checks will
be accepted if credit card payment is not preferred (click here for "check" instructions).
All sessions and levels are open and will remain so until filled.
We are accepting applications on a first come, first served basis.
If the particular session or level you desire is filled, you may
put the junior’s name on a waiting list. Should an opening
become available, we will contact you. We strongly suggest that you
sign up, in advance, for any and all sessions you plan to attend.
We expect all sessions to fill up quickly.
Please note, due to instruction and facility limitations, Level I
can accommodate a maximum of 30 juniors and Levels II and III can
accommodate a maximum of 25 juniors.
Registration costs are $55 for Level I, $65 for Level II and $75
for Level III. If fees pose a hardship, there are JTAA sponsor funds
available to cover cost of registration.
Please click this link to
fill out the registration.
JTAA Golf Committee
If you have any questions as to which Level
to sign up your junior in, please contact the appropriate
level coordinator.
Thank you and we hope to see you and your juniors
out there!
Doug Easton, JTAA Golf Committee Director and
President.
